A Seven-Day Creative Writing Project in Prague

Xue Er Si Online School sent the winners of its teenage writing competition to Prague to take part in a seven-day creative writing project. Chinese writer Wang Weilian accompanied the students.

Tomáš Mazal, a writer and biographer known for his work on Bohumil Hrabal, was invited to meet the young writers. He signed books for the students and encouraged them in their writing.

During the meeting, Mazal remarked on the setting: the ICA hall had once been a police office, where writers such as Bohumil Hrabal, who lived on a nearby street, had been monitored by the authorities. He found it striking that people were now gathering in the same place to talk about Hrabal and his work.
